Our Deaf Advisory Board
Dr. Regina Daniels
Dr. Regina is the Director of ASL (DASL) at Guthrie Theater, where she oversees ASL interpretation services, develops curriculum, and mentor interpreters. Additionally, as a Professor of ASL, she teaches levels 1-4 using the TrueWayASL curriculum and instruct courses in Deaf Literature and the Arts, Deaf Theater, and Topics in ASL. She also focuses on curriculum development and mentoring senior students for internships.
Dr. Regina holds an Education Doctorate degree in Leadership, which has equipped her with advanced skills in management and strategic planning. Her experience includes:
– Leading ASL programs and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
– Developing innovative curriculum and training programs.
– Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance accessibility and inclusivity.
She is passionate about creating inclusive learning environments and driving positive change.

Ms. Ashura Michael
Ms. Ashura is a young and ambitious Deaf human rights, gender ,inclusion and public policy advocate in Kenya. Her deep commitment to social justice in the years of her work is admirable and has seen her recognized for it. Ms. Ashura has served in leadership in various capacities including, formerly serving as the Speaker of the East African Youth Legislative Assembly. Ashura is the Founder and Director of Free a Girl’s World Network (FGW-N), an organization that aims to empower the girl child socially and economically.
Ms. Ashura is a fellow of Mandela Washington Fellowship, Political Leadership and Governance Program (PLGP), YouLead, Leonard Cheshire Disability (Young Voice) and Africa Liberal Women Network Program alumni. Ms. Ashura has studied Law at the University of Nairobi. She is also certified by the University of Illinois Urban-Champaign with Civil Leadership and a Political, Leadership and Governance certificate by Fredrich Ebert Stiftung.
Ms. Ashura is guided by the wise counsel of Mother Teresa that, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.”
